Stick welding is a term used in the arc welding process. The welding arc is struck between the workpiece and the tip of an electrode. (SMAW) It is one of the simple and versatile processes for welding ferrous and several nonferrous base metals. The (SMAW) process has several advantages they are the simplicity and lightness of the equipment and its relatively low cost. The SMAW process has wide applications in the construction, pipeline and maintenance industries. Uncomplicated portable equipment is in common use for maintenance and field construction work.
